Lightning is a gameplay mechanic added on June 1, 2020, in the v0.9.5 "Storm Mode" update, as a part of the Storm Map. After showing sparks for a few seconds, a tremendous explosion will take place, striking the ground. It deals fatal damage to players and catastrophic damage to Obstacles.
Technical
- Explosion deals 200 damage to players
- 150x damage multiplier on obstacles (30000 damage total)
- Lightning Strike radius totals 10-20 range (5-10 normal player widths)
- Anywhere from one to three lightning strikes appear in close proximity to each other.
- Lightning emits a bright flash on screen, no matter how close you are to it.
Strategies
- Use an LMG to push any enemies toward the Lightning if you see it begin to charge up.
- Since you can survive a Lightning bolt with a Level 2 Helmet and Level 3 Vest or higher, you can run in to finish off anyone nearby.

Trivia
- Screen shakes on lightning strikes are huge, sometimes even screwing up the entire screen. This can mess up gameplay if screen shake setting is not disabled.
- Lightning also causes large lag spikes, most likely because of all the effects created by it and the sheer damage it does.
- The charred areas of the lightning strikes don't load until halfway on screen. This is most likely a product of the lag caused.
