Naginata with M249 and M134
The Naginata is a rare Melee Weapon that can only be found in the Chrysanthemum Chest in the Teahouse introduced in the v0.7.3 "Awesome blossoms" update.
Background
The Naginata was originally invented in Japan around 1000 years ago as a Japanese polearm. It was used by the samurai class and is still often used in the naginata jutsu martial arts. It is known for its long blade and its efficiency. Its blade is similar to a katana's, while the long handle allows the weapon to be held with two hands.

Strategies
Using
- The Naginata can be used similarly to the Katana in most situations. Think of it as an upgraded Katana, with higher damage and longer range, but a slower attack speed. Nonetheless, it is generally regarded as better.
- Its long reach gives a massive advantage in CQC situations, being the longest in the game. If an enemy switches to their melee as well, the Naginata user will almost always win the fight.
- Note that enemies very close to the survivr will not take damage, due to the long handle being a blind spot for the Naginata.
- The Naginata has the Cleave ability, allowing it to hit through multiple Obstacles at once. Combined with its almost doubled Obstacle damage, the Naginata can destroy most obstacles with ease.
Countering
- As the Naginata is a Melee Weapon, use a gun instead of trying to melee.
- Having high Adrenaline can help flee from a Naginata user.

- It is the second Japanese-styled melee weapon in the game, with the Katana being the first.
- The Naginata is the first and only polearm melee weapon to be added to the game.
- Naginata means "reaping sword" in Japanese.
- It is the largest melee weapon in the game, beating even the Katana and the War Hammer.
- The blade of the Naginata is similar to the Katana's blade, but its long handle allows a player to hit an enemy from a further distance.
- Although the Naginata's Cleave can hit multiple Obstacles at once, it cannot hit behind Obstacles, but there will still be blood on hit.
