The Heckler & Koch HK416, known in-game as the M416, is a fully-automatic Assault Rifle in surviv.io that uses the 5.56mm Ammunition.

The M416 utilizes 5.56mm (green) Ammunition. It is a fairly common find as ground and crate loot and has a higher DPS, faster reload, and higher and fire rate than the AK-47. However, the AK-47 has higher damage per bullet and accuracy.
Strategies
Using
- In close quarters, the M416 has better DPS than most other common primary-class automatic weapons. Nevertheless, it is still easily beaten by Shotguns and a high rate of fire SMGs.
- At longer ranges, the M416 partially makes up for its inaccuracy with its high muzzle velocity. It has a slightly higher DPS than the AK-47. Nevertheless, it is still better to close in on your enemy if you have an M416 because of the weapon's fast fire rate.
- The fast fire rate leads to higher headshot potential at close range.
- Much like other automatic weapons, the M416 can be used to finish off enemies who have already been damaged by a shotgun like the M870 or SPAS-12, or a sniper rifle like the Mosin-Nagant.
- The shotguns and sniper rifles are also good as backup weapons if the enemy if very far away or if you are rushed at close range.
- Pay attention to the ammunition in the magazine because the M416 spends all the ammunition quite quickly. Stay near cover so that you can reload if you are low on ammo.
Countering
- The M416 has a DPS higher than the AK-47 and MP5. It also has the highest fire rate of all the common Assault Rifles and LMGs. To counter this weapon, make your opponent spread the bullets by moving around while shooting at them.
- Stay far away from an M416 user unless you have a shotgun or an SMG like the MAC-10.
- Using the MP5 or any accurate long-range weapon is a good way to counter M416 in longer ranges.
- Shotguns at point-blank can kill an enemy in a matter of seconds.
- The Groza is a similar rarity counter to the M416. It is similar but has slightly higher DPS and can counter at close range; however, longer ranges are not ideal for a Groza vs M416 battle to the accuracy disadvantage.
- Try not to fight the user if you are trapped in an enclosed room with metal walls, such as a Container. The high fire rate with either kill you, or force you out of cover for easy pickings. Vice Versa if you are using the gun.

- Before the v0.4.2 "Sun's out, guns out" update on June 21, 2018, the M416 was called the HK416. This is also the case for the Glock 18C (Shortened to G18C) due to copyright issues.
- Although it is now called the M416, it's internal ID is still "hk416."
- The name M416 is also used in the HK416 in video game franchises such as Player Unknown's Battlegrounds and the Battlefield series. These changes were done due to copyright reasons (Heckler and Koch is the name of a real-life German armament company).
- The DEagle 50 was also renamed similarly due to copyright issues.
- The real-life HK416 was made by Heckler & Koch as an improved version of the M4A1. It was originally called the "HK M4" by Heckler & Koch, but the name was dropped due to a copyright dispute. In-game, though, the shortened Mk 18 CQBR "M4A1-S" is a direct upgrade of the M416.
- The HK416 was developed with the input of Delta Force and has been popular among Western special operations units in the 21st century for its extremely high quality, accuracy, reliability, and general characteristics. Notably, it was the rifle used by SEAL Team 6 to kill Osama Bin Laden.
- The US Marine Corps designated a variant of this weapon as the "Infantry Automatic Rifle, M27" or M27 IAR. It is meant to replace M4s, M16s, and M249s that are currently in service. Other branches of the U.S. military have not yet adopted the M27 and may not adopt them at all in the future, although a handful of special operations units use M416s.
- In real life, the HK416 is more accurate than its rival, the AK-47. However, this is not reflected in-game. The developers may believe that the shorter barrel (11 inches) will result in decreased accuracy.
- However, this may also be for balancing purposes.
